Empowering Diversity in Legal Profession

Founded and established in the Spring of 2023, Latino Students in Law (LSL) is a pioneering student organization committed to empowering undergraduate students pursuing legal careers. While founded by Latino students, we proudly serve a diverse community of aspiring legal professionals from historically underrepresented backgrounds. LSL is committed to demystifying legal careers through responsive programming, equitable distribution of resources, and a welcoming, supportive network that uplifts students on their journeys to and through law.

We are proud to be in partnership with USC Gould School of Law and the Latine Student Assembly at USC.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a membership fee to join?

No! Our club was founded on the mission that we want to be accessible to everyone. We want everyone to feel welcomed in our club so feel free to come join our LSL family.

Do I have to be pre-law to join?

Of course not! Even though we host a lot of pre-law events, our events are also a great way to network and meet other people at USC.

How do I become a member?

We are so excited to have you join the family. All you have to do is sign our member agreement form that we will have link here every start of the semester.

What are the requirements to stay a member?

We just ask that as members, you all stay informed and up to date! We also require attendance to at least 3 LSL events per semester. Remember that we have both professional and social events happening throughout the semester, so plenty of opportunities to come and hang!

What kind of events does LSL host?

We organize a variety of social and professional events every semester. Our past social events have included fun activities like paleta socials, board game nights, and study sessions with other campus organizations. On the professional side, we've hosted events like judge panels, resume workshops, LSAT prep sessions, and much more! Be sure to follow us on Instagram for updates on upcoming events. We love to create fresh and exciting experiences each semester, so stay tuned for what's next!

What is the member agreement form?

We’ve introduced a General Member Agreement to encourage consistent attendance at events, foster a strong, supportive community, ensure members benefit fully from speakers, mentorship, and resources, and plan events that align with your schedule and interests! Completion of the General Member Agreement is admission to LSL. To maintain your membership, just be sure to follow the expectations outlined in the agreement.

I joined Latino Students in Law because I didn’t see a space where students like me—first-generation, Latine, and aspiring lawyers—could come together, feel seen, and support each other. This community grew out of a real need for connection and care in a process that can often feel overwhelming and lonely. Every conversation, every event, every shared resource reminds me that we’re not in this alone. We’re learning together, encouraging one another, and building something meaningful—not just for ourselves, but for the next generation of Latine law students too.

As an immigrant Latina student, it is easy to feel lost navigating the path to law school, attempting to find resources and opportunities that were not meant to be accessible to our community. LSL has given me an abundance of mentorship, advice, and resources that otherwise would have been hidden from me, helping break down barriers.
